Is it worth the Squeeze

Traditional juices and our raw juices differ significantly in terms of processing, taste, and nutrition; here is an more in depth look into each one.

Processing:

Store bought concentrate juices are made by removing the water from the fruit or vegetable typically through using heat. The juice is then store and rehydrated by adding water back in before bottling. These juices often contain added sugars, citric acid, and other preservatives and additives to enhance taste and self life.

Raw Juice are made with a juicing machine, and extract the juice from the fruit without using any heat or chemicals and stored away from oxygen and consumed shortly after preparation.

Nutritional Value

Store bought juices loose a substantial amount of nutrients due to the temperature used in the pasteurization process; especially in Vitamin C and other heat sensitive compounds. All of the fibre is removed which can also alter the nutritional content in combination with added sugars these juices can sometimes do more harm then good.

Raw juices retain much more of their nutritional value due to the processing and staging methods between the juices. The nutrients in raw juices are also more bioavailable making them using for the body to absorb and use.

Taste

Store bought juice may seem to have an intense fruit taste often due to artificial flavourings adding in to enhance taste. These juices typically taste sweeter due to added sugars and sweeteners.

Raw juice- The flavour to these juices is fresher and may be less sweet depending on how much natural fruit is used. The freshness of the juice also leads itself to customization based on personal preference.

**Shelf Life**

Store bought juices can be shelf stable for weeks or months due to the added preservatives; even at room temperature.

Raw juices must be consumed with days after juicing due to the active living nutrients. These juices must be sealed and stored in refrigerated temperatures.
